“Creating a paradise on the planet is designers’ task.”

Starting with journey in China, Finland and UK, Mingke Wang devotes to bring technology and sustainability into a better future of fashion. She keeps passionate, curious and endeavor to embrace new window of industry by applying innovative materials, techniques and medias to design ideas.

Origins From Glacier.

Based on experiments on bio-plastic materials and 3D design methods, this project imitates the texture of glacier to make jewelry, and tells a story of a future luxury jewelry brand in a speculative tone. Glaciers, as one of the rarest natural resources on the earth, is chosen to criticize the phenomenon of “Rare is Expensive 物以稀为贵.” Referenced to the Speculative and Critical Design (SCD), the idea of building a luxury brand sourcing from glaciers is a romantic metaphor, which challenges the traditional luxury supply chain and revamps the definition of luxury.

  • Bio-design

Fast fashion has speeded up weaving non-degradable petrochemical textiles into their chic and cheap garments, addressing environmental damages from production, manufacture, and landfilling. Bio-based textile with the superior performance of degradability, lower carbon footprint, and multi-functions is gradually drawing attention from the industry.

  • Wearable-tech

The clothes we wear to work will be sensor-embedded and connected, says Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman, author of the 2016 book “Smart Textiles for Designers: Inventing the Future of Fabrics,” and head of a consulting firm specializing in wearable technology and smart textiles. Much of this technology already exists in apparel used in the military, medicine and sports.

  • Sustainable Fashion

Sustainable fashion concerns more than just addressing fashion textiles or products. It addresses the whole system of how clothing is produced, who produced it, and how long the life span of a product is before it reaches the landfill. This means dealing with interdependent social, cultural, ecological, and financial systems. Sustainability shines fashion!
